CAP – Christians Against Poverty
We are passionate about bringing hope to people and families living on the Wirral who are burdened by unsustainable debt, poverty and their causes. Working with the national UK charity CAP UK our Debt Centre based at St Marys’ in Upton brings good news, hope and potential pathways out of debt. The service is free to our clients.
The CAP Wirral Debt Centre
The CAP Wirral Debt Centre was established at St Mary’s in Upton in 2012 in partnership with CAP UK. The Debt Centre has a Debt Centre Manager and a Debt Coach who work with around 40 clients and families every year to support them to becoming debt free. The Debt Centre also works with around 15 volunteer befrienders who get alongside clients and support in practical ways such as sourcing emergency food needs, running regular community events, and preparing Christmas hampers for our clients.

The CAP Money coaching courses
The cost of living is a challenge to us all these days. We regularly run free CAP Money coaching courses which provide the tools and knowledge to effectively budget and hopefully avoid getting into unsustainable debt. As well as courses for working age adults, regular courses are run in school for school students and for those moving into further and higher education.
