Parish Nursing

Hello, my name is Lizzie Hsuan and I am the Parish Nurse at St Mary’s Upton. I am a Registered Nurse and have done the Parish Nurse Ministries UK (PNMUK) Parish Nursing Course.

I work part time as the Parish Nurse at St Mary’s as part of the staff pastoral care team.

I am available to anyone in the parish and to members of St Mary’s church:

  • to offer support for your health concerns,
  • to support you in seeking the most appropriate care for your needs,
  • to monitor blood pressure and weight if requested,
  • and to guide you through the complex health and social services systems.

I would love to pray with you too, if that is something you would like to do.

I cannot offer clinical treatments, interventions or emergency care, but will do what I can to ensure you are informed and able to make good choices around your health.

What is Parish Nursing?

Parish Nursing Ministries UK is a registered charity that equips and trains Registered Nurses to provide whole person health care through a local church community.

Based on Jesus’s teaching and ministry as demonstrated in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10v 25-37) Parish Nurses aim to provide support for the physical, mental, social and spiritual health of the individual; to improve the lives of people in the UK by ministering health and wholeness.

Registered nurses work from their churches offering individuals and communities personal health advice, advocacy support, health education, support groups. They train and support volunteers, and help people integrate their faith and health.

Support from a Parish Nurse is available to people of all ages and backgrounds.
